REFAP Celebrates National Award Success

REFAP’s CEO, Triscilla Holborow has won a prestigious national Indigenous Business Award.

Founded in 1988, the Ethnic Business Awards celebrate diversity, multiculturalism and migrant entrepreneurship.

Triscilla was one of four finalists from around 180 nominations in the ‘Indigenous in Business’ category, which was established in 2010. She was announced as the winner at a gala presentation dinner in Melbourne last month.

Triscilla says it was humbling to be nominated for the Award, and to be in the company of so many inspiring people who have overcome the odds.

“The Ethnic Business Awards celebrate the achievements of Aboriginal and migrant people, and they have a lot to do with hardship and overcoming barriers,” she said.

“For seven years it was a struggle for us, but we kept to our values and vision, and we pushed the boundaries to keep doing well.”

Triscilla hopes the award will empower other Aboriginal women in leadership, and inspire them to make the most of their opportunities.

“The key to success is to do what you know. If you have the skills and aspire to get to the next level, don’t be afraid to go for it,” Triscilla said.

“The Indigenous in Business Award recognises that there are lots of strong, educated Aboriginal women who are capable of achieving. Being acknowledged on the national level gives Aboriginal people confidence and also provides valuable networking opportunities.”

The Ethnic Business Awards was televised nationally on Aurora Community Channel (Foxtel) and on SBS.
