Spectacular Contribution to FeNaclNG Festival Finale
Karratha’s recent Fenaclng Festival culminated in arguably the best fireworks display ever seen in the event’s 45 year history.
The Sunday night spectacular went off without a hitch, thanks to the support and the efforts of a team of the hard-working Community Development Program (CDP).
REFAP’s Community Development Program participants played an integral role, setting up fencing and barricades around the fireworks’ launch area to ensure the public’s safety. The setup required predominantly manual labour.
The Activity Coordinator of the CDP in Karratha, Kyle Bartlett, said the work was a positive example of REFAP’s job seekers assisting the community for a very important cause.
“Participants from our Community Pride, Manual Arts and Admin activities spent two days erecting the safety measures, to ensure the community could enjoy the fireworks without incident,” Kyle said.
“It was a real team effort and it gave the participants a sense of belonging,” he said. “Many of them returned to watch the show with their families and children.”
Thousands of people turned out to Bulgarra Oval to enjoy the annual festival, organised by Karratha Dampier Lions Club. REFAP is proud to have contributed to the successful staging of the FeNaclNg Festival in 2017, and looks forward to its return, bigger and better, in 2018.
