Young FeNaClNG winners riding high

Two budding young artists are the proud owners of new bikes after winning the REFAP colouring-in competition at the recent FeNaClNG festival.

Samuel Buck from Karratha won the category for 4-7 year olds, while Lucee Webster from Pannawonica won the 8-12 year old category.

REFAP organised the colouring-in competition, along with wooden boomerang painting, as part of its exhibition at FeNaClNG to engage with the community and highlight the Remote School Attendance Strategy (RSAS) and Community Development Program (CDP).

The Activity Coordinator of RSAS and CDP in Roebourne, Karen Farrell, said the colouring-in competition was a huge success and the prizes were greatly appreciated.

“One of the RSAS team members designed a turtle for the competition and we had various
art supplies available for the kids to use. We received more than 60 entries in some very
bright, artistic colours,” Karen said.

“REFAP’s CDP participants and supervisors also cut out the wooden boomerangs – it was a
great effort by our whole team.”

10 year old Lucee from Pannawonica Primary School was delighted with her prize. “Art is my
favourite subject at school but I was surprised to win,” she said. “My new bike is great, it’s
much better than my old one.”
